Leadership

Leadership & Communication

Through roles in Student Council, Debate Club, and Student Voice, I’ve developed as a communicator and collaborator. I’ve represented perspectives, built campaigns, and spoken on issues I care about — from environmental advocacy to civic leadership. These experiences have helped me grow into a more thoughtful, confident leader.

Debate club

Debate has helped shape the way I think, listen, and express myself. Through regular practice and competition, I’ve learned to build arguments under pressure, see issues from multiple perspectives, and communicate with clarity and empathy. It’s made me more confident not just as a speaker, but as a thinker.

Student Voice

As part of Student Voice, I’ve worked with peers and school leadership to help shape conversations around student wellbeing, inclusion, and community values. This role has allowed me to listen more deeply, advocate thoughtfully, and contribute to making our school culture more open and responsive. Leadership in this space isn’t about speaking the loudest; it’s about helping people feel heard.

Singapore Young Leadership Program

I participated in the Singapore Young Leaders Programme, a regional initiative focused on leadership, inclusion, and social cohesion. Through collaborative workshops, cultural exchange, and problem-solving challenges, I had the chance to connect with peers from Southeast Asia and reflect on my own leadership style. It pushed me to think beyond titles and toward empathy, listening, and impact.

Model United Nations

Participating in MUN has deepened my understanding of international relations, diplomacy, and negotiation. Representing different countries in simulated global debates challenged me to step into perspectives beyond my own and defend positions I didn’t always personally agree with, which taught me the importance of nuance, research, and respectful dialogue.

Through committees focused on human rights and international development, I became especially interested in how health policy is shaped across borders. These experiences have pushed me to consider global health as a potential career path, one that combines systems thinking, advocacy, and care on a global scale.
