About Me

Hi, I’m Ananya – here’s a little about me and the questions that drive me

I’m Ananya Sinha, a student at UWCSEA in Singapore, and someone who’s always been drawn to the “why” behind things.

Why do policies fail people? Why do we ignore environmental harm until it’s too late? Why do some voices get heard, and others don’t?

A lot of these questions became real to me through the contrast between life in Singapore and my hometown in India. Growing up between such different environments made me notice disparities early – not just in healthcare and education, but in access, awareness, and the opportunities people are given from the start. That perspective is what first sparked my interest in public health and human sciences.

Since then, I’ve tried to explore those interests beyond the classroom whenever I can. I attended a summer program at Brown University, where I explored regenerative medicine, and this summer I’ll be interning with Vital Strategies, working at the intersection of public health, policy, and impact.

But for me, learning has never just been about collecting achievements. I care deeply about how things are done – with empathy, intention, and a real understanding of the people behind the statistics. Whether through research, leadership, service work, or debate, I’m most motivated when curiosity turns into action.

Outside academics, I play polo, sing, and spend a lot of time observing people, systems, and stories. I’m fascinated by the way small decisions – personal or political – can shape entire communities and lives.

I don’t have everything figured out yet, but I know I want to spend my life understanding people and building things that genuinely help them.
